Bush/Cheney/Cartel's driving up oil prices is a tax on Americans which is at least as much as they're refunding, the only difference is that this tax goes into energy cartel pockets, with plenty of soft money for the GOP, and it depletes our surplus instead of adding to it and paying down our debt. Now all you conservatives out there? Which is better? A tax the government can use to pay down debt or bolster SS or Medicare or even build your useless Star Wars? Or a tax that goes right into corporate pockets, many of which do not pay US taxes at all? Youcan see the extent of their giveaway to cronies and foreign oil companies, including Iran Iraq, Libya (with higher oil prices) as compared to Clinton keeping taxes for the rich fairly a little higher, paying off the national debt, adding to the surplus and keeping our social programs functional. Bottomline, they just ripped off our tax refunds and a big piece of our surplus just so they can give us excuses to go and de-regulate environmental protection. It isn't working because people are wise to them but they are getting stinking rich in the process and you know this admninistration gives tax credits to the energy cartel, not windfall profits taxes. Really criminal.
Since when did conservatism become equal to stealing/lying and chesting America? GOP, look who has taken over your party? Or have they always been there? I do remember Nixon/Agnew and all their oil and construction pay-offs including suitcases of cash from Howard Hughes.
