(OT)Indexit...re:Vegas...a couple days/nights in Vegas is a short stay, especially if you don't like the gambling scene, and are looking more at sightseeing...regardless, you'll have a great time just seeing the massive "light shows"(imagine the electric bills for the casinos)...anyway, for a first time 2 day/night stay, I agree with FlyeGuy...imagine Caesar's as a center...from there, you can wander from resort to resort marveling at everything from magic shows to the Pirates raid at Treasure Island(a great free show, IMO)...and don't forget the Bellagio....every 15 minutes or so, it has a massive synchronized water fountain show computerized to various types of music...absolutely amazing(and free)...across the street, ride to the top of the "Eiffel Tower"(great views at night)...staying anywhere in that area is preferable, IMO...the MGM area is OK, but a bit removed, IMO...want a great place to stay(small hotel compared to the giants?), in the center of the activity, not much in the way of amenities, but the Barbary Coast(next to the Flamingo and the others I mentioned)is a great place for a cheap room(relatively) amidst a sea of oppulence...but then again, if you really want to impress your girlfriend...2 days/nights at the Bellagio(with a room view of the fountains) should do it...
Good luck, and have fun...
Ed
P.S...if your timeframe was longer, you're only a few hours driving distance from Reno and Lake Tahoe to the north, LA to the west, and the great wonder of 'em all....The Grand Canyon, a mere 3 or 4 hours or so... |
