Keeping Mexican truckers out completely seems to me to be an odd and very short-sighted policy. If we allow them to operate here but require the vehicles to meet our standards, we will provide a huge incentive for Mexican truckers to upgrade their fleets, which will open a substantial market for US manufacturers.

It amuses me that 3rd world leftists denounce free trade agreements as a device to allow 1st world multinationals to exploit their people and their resources, while people in the 1st world denounce the same agreements, calling them devices to drive American jobs overseas.

I'm always inclined to support initiatives that are opposed by extremists on both sides, and I'm certainly prepared to argue in favor of free trade. Within reasonable limitations, of course; I'm not going to take the fundamentalist route on anything.
