The saddest thing of all is that everyone knows that when the peace is finally negotiated, it will be along the lines of the Taba proposals.

But now it will never be negotiated with Yasser Arafat. Palestinian statehood will have to wait until there is a Palestinian statesman.

Edit: I just reread Dr. Jawad's second interview, and was struck by his example of Faisal Husseini's telling someone to take down the Palestinian flag as an example of courageous leadership. I mean, isn't that a pathetic example? Courage is telling someone to abide by agreed upon terms for a rally? What about the courage to give your people a hint that, having been on the losing side in four wars (five if you count the Gulf War), some painful concessions may prove neccessary?
