Starbase Announces StarTeam 5.1

Advanced Configuration and Change Management System Delivers Enterprise Level Replication, Synchronization and Process Control To StarTeam Developers

biz.yahoo.com

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2001-- Starbase Corp. (Nasdaq:SBAS - news), the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for both the development and management of content and code for e-business applications, today announced the scheduled release date of Aug. 15, 2001 for StarTeam 5.1, the Internet-enabled client/server configuration and change management system.

``StarTeam 5.1 delivers scalability, performance, process control and replication designed to meet the needs of the largest of enterprises,'' stated James H. Smith, executive vice president, Starbase Customer Group. ``Global organizations require optimum collaboration levels to manage their distributed development environments, applications, processes and content. With StarTeam 5.1, Starbase will capture major enterprise sales opportunities by delivering a high level of functionality and a faster return on valuable IT investments.''

In addition to other productivity enhancing features, StarTeam 5.1 will deliver advanced functionality with the addition of Replication Manager and Process Rules features. Replication Manager will relieve server overload by enabling the equal distribution of project workload across multiple server configurations. Geographically dispersed team members and outsourced development resources will now gain necessary support through the project and file synchronization utility of StarTeam 5.1.

New StarTeam Process Rules provide the highest level of development change management by requiring that developers follow a defined development process, in which all changes are linked to either a change request or task. This development process ensures that code and content will only be modified as the result of a clearly defined and approved objective.

The StarTeam configuration and change management system, an integral part of the Starbase Collaboration Suite, includes cross-platform client and server support for defect tracking, change management, version control, threaded conversations, task management with MS Project integration and workflow and process management. Utilizing StarDisk, StarTeam 5.1 users can enroll both non-technical and technical project participants within the organization or outside the company, in the application development process.

StarTeam 5.1 enables the use of 3rd party differencing and merge tools and includes a new view compare/merge utility that records and tracks merges within files. The StarTeam command-line interface now supports add-project and add-folder commands. Universal Edition, which allows users to use the StarTeam command-line interface from a workstation with a UNIX operating system, now includes both the new commands and Replication Manager.
