CIENA Signs Multiyear Deal With Agile and Realizes Quick Time to Benefit

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- As companies respond to the economic climate, more emphasis is placed on choosing solutions that provide a quick time to benefit. That is a major reason CIENA chose Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), and its quickly deployed, mission critical solution -- Agile Anywhere(TM) -- to streamline business processes, drive market share, and provide quick return on investment.

CIENA (Nasdaq: CIEN), a global leader in intelligent optical networking systems and software, has signed a multi-million dollar license agreement to use Agile Anywhere, a web-based suite of collaborative manufacturing solutions, to improve operational efficiency with its internal divisions, suppliers, and customers worldwide.

"CIENA is focused on accommodating the dynamics of a constantly changing environment and realizing the bottom-line benefit. As our company continues to grow, Agile solutions provide the scalability to expand, helping to drive market share," said Mike Steenberge, Vice President of Information Systems for CIENA. "Agile is helping us to introduce new products faster, supporting our dedication to customer responsiveness, and enhancing our success as a leader in the intelligent optical networking industry."

Agile Anywhere is a complete suite of collaborative manufacturing solutions that enable manufacturers to build private product manufacturing collaboration exchanges, totally automating the distribution and synchronization of product content across the supply chain, with all information and services available through Agile eHubs(TM). In addition to using Agile Anywhere, CIENA has deployed Agile Integration Server(TM) (AIS) -- an XML-based integration solution that makes the valuable product content (product DNA) held in Agile Anywhere available to other mission-critical business applications at CIENA such as Oracle ERP.

Bryan D. Stolle, CEO and chairman of Agile said, "CIENA's drive to scale with its growing industry supports its position as an intelligent optical networking leader. Agile is proud to be a key element of CIENA's collaborative processes across all its divisions and its key supply-base partners, especially when the economic situation puts even greater importance on attention to costs, business processes, and the bottom-line."
