P4 with RDRAM has two channels.
Each RDRAM channel has two sockets.
The sockets not used to hold memory RIMMs must have continuity modules installed.
Continuity modules are not free, they cost some $15. Used modules are on Ebay and going for $1 to $13.

$46 (cost of 128 MB of RDRAM) + $30 = $76. vs. $9 for SDRAM.

The additional RIMM socket and termination passives also add to the cost of the RDRAM solution.
