Alliance Semiconductor is latest memory vendor to join SigmaRAM consortium

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- In a move to expand its efforts in the communications chip arena, Alliance Semiconductor Corp. here today announced that it has joined the SigmaRAM Consortium.

Alliance is the latest company to support the SigmaRAM family of synchronous SRAM products for networking and telecommunications applications. Other members of the consortium include GSI Technology, Integrated Silicon Solution Inc., Mitsubishi, Sony, and Toshiba.

SigmaRAM devices operate at 333-MHz in both single-data-rate (SDR) and double-data-rate (DDR) variations. They are capable of sustaining up to 24-Gb/s data throughput and scale from 18-Mbit to 144-Mbit densities. In June, the consortium announced its roadmap
