That oil has to last for an indefinite period of time to provide sufficient fuel for future generations until a viable alternative has been found.

This is pure and utter nonsense.

How so?

Viable alternatives will be found ONLY when the markets make it attractive for someone to do so. Conservation, while an interesting sidebar, has no material effect on the amount of time existing resources will last.

Really? Using less of a resource does not prolong the period of time that resource is available for use. Interesting? Where did you say you went to school?

When supply gets short, and prices go up, then alternative sources will be developed. Not one minute before.

Excuse me, but what bizarro fantasy world are you on? Alternative sources have been developed but they have not been proven to be cost effective on a large scale. Some examples are solar and windmill. In other words, after years of research, we have yet to come up with a viable alternative to oil.

Science is not something you can turn on or off at will. What happens when we use up all the oil and science has not come up with a viable alternative?

What is wrong with the liberal mind that makes it unable to understand this trivial, yet fundamental, concept?

What is wrong with the conservative mind that it doesn't work? You really are out of your element.
