. Just because a question is asked, it doesn't necessarily have to be answered. Excuse me? Surely you're not telling me that a government, our government, is not supposed to be accountable to its citizens. We shouldn't even have to ask the question to have it answered. Policy decisions should be announced and explained. I'll bet that we're going to get some really elaborate policy statement on stem cell research--full of discussion on trade-offs and justifications. That kind of treatment of citizens should be SOP. It's both right and smart to explain policy to citizens. You can't get any more mom and apple pie than that. I can't believe we're even having this discussion. Karen
