Ever think of donating organs.......John Paul II Pope John Paul II told a group of more than 5,000 transplant professionals that organ donation is an "act of love."

Speaking to the International Congress of Transplant Specialists, John Paul said "There is a need to instill in people's hearts, especially in the hearts of the young generation, a genuine and deep appreciation of the need for brotherly love, a love that can find expression in the decision to become an organ donor."

The Pope covered the Church's stand on issues related to transplants: condemning the sale of organs, insisting on informed consent for donor families and recipients and pointing out the complete end of brain activity as an acceptable way to determine when death has occurred.

Survey says Americans approve living donation
A survey released by the National Kidney Foundation indicates that one in four Americans say they would give a stranger a kidney while still alive. The NKF survey found wide interest in living donations, with 90 percent of American adults polled saying they would consider donating a kidney or part of another organ to a family member. Of those surveyed, half said they would consider the option for a stranger.
