RE:"Too much capital, available too cheaply;"

Never been the case for AMD.

"Arrogance about the supposed replacement of economic reality by a New Economy;"

My focus for the moment is how near is market cap to the book value :-).

"Arrogance about the dot-coms' ability to create demand from thin air ... or at least to dramatically grow existing demand;"

For sure, when AMD or Intel are dumping lower Mhz (Ghz) CPU to clear inventory, they kill there future. By buying cheap PIII or Athlon at $100 or less make you able to wait 2 or 3 years at least before you will really need to buy a new computer.

"Inept and inexperienced management;"

This statement certainly do not apply to Jerry.

"And finally, the real killer: A focus on building market share, not making money."

It has been debated here on this tread lately. There is a need for a certain size of the market-share that AMD have to reach in order to calibrate R&D and good usage of productions facilities. If they can't reach it, Intel will again smash them eventually.
