explain whether or not memebers of the John Birch Society are Conservatives. The subtlety of thought you advance is that if a Bircher is a Conservative then the opposite must follow, that a Conservative is somehow allied with a Bircher. Is this your contention? If so, you have failed statistics but have the vision of the anointed. Correlation is not necessarily causation. edit: BTW I love this definition of liberalism in a book my wife just brought home, "The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy", "In the 20th century, a viewpoint or IDEOLOGY associated with free political institutions and religious toleration, as well as support for a strong role of government in regulating CAPITALISM and constructing the WELFARE STATE."
