In what way is abstinence until marriage a "higher" goal than teaching people to manage normal premarital sexuality with pragmatism and intelligence?

I would hate to see one of my children marry someone they's never had sex with. I would hate to see one of them marry someone they hadn't lived with for at least a year. I would hate to see one of them get married before having several serious relationships. That may not fit your view of "decency", but that is not something that bothers me.
