AMD's Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany Ships 10 Millionth AMD Athlon Processor Die
Major Milestone Marks Another Success for Manufacturing Facility, Demonstrating Flawless Execution During First 13 Months of Operation
DRESDEN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2001-- AMD announced today that its newest megafab, Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany, shipped its 10 millionth AMD Athlon(tm) processor die.
Fab 30 is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that incorporates industry-leading manufacturing technologies to produce the company's highest-performance AMD Athlon processors. AMD's Fab 30 was recently awarded ``Fab of the Year'' by Semiconductor International magazine in recognition of being the first facility in the world specifically designed to produce microprocessors with copper interconnects.
