Tim, you are thrashing around like a drowning man. But I do think that some progress has been made. I think you now understand that abortions take place from day one. And that they take place on everything from the fertilized egg onward. Both of us have confirmed that our respective positions on abortion are not based on the age of the unborn tissue nor on what it is called. I support the concept that all people own their own bodies and minds, and are entitled to be free of any other bodies seeking to compromise their existence. I support the idea that possession and ownership cannot be held by a strand of DNA, as these are strictly concepts related to thought and desire, which appear to require (at a minimum)--a CNS.
I think you missed my correction earlier. I corrected 90% to 88%. I corrected 3 months to 84 days. And I corrected, "on the embryo" to on the embryo AND the fetus--the embryo being classified as a fetus during the last 28 days of this statistical period. If this is confusing for you, I can paraphrase it:
88% of abortions take place during the first 84 days.
Thousands upon thousands of undocumented abortions take place the first 3 days after intercourse, and many other thousands of "pill" abortions are also never documented (the MAP, btw, has been used for about 20 years). Most of these abortions do not inform statistics--so the 88 % figure might actually be closer to 98 % of non foetal abortions. Of course, this is only a guess. And, of course, for you and I (as regards the question of rights), it is irrelevent. |
