Re: A Bad Day for Tech: 31,000 Jobs Slashed
Before we all head for the bridges and window ledges, it's a good idea to see how this played out in previous recessions. Then, only about 40% of the announced layoffs were actually attrited. So, there is a silver lining to all this angst were going through now. Just as the bubble was illusory, so now is most of the hand-wringing on the part of senior management which serves two purposes, it sullies Mr. Market into some complacency regarding cost containment within the corporation, and it definitely cracks the whip on the staff, who, when they aren't totally demoralized, are competing to be among the survivors. A classic twofer.
