I'm not so sure about that. First, let me say that I recognize that my reaction to this tax cut is a bit out of proportion. But I can't help feeling, with my $300 check, like that proverbial waitress who is left a nickel tip--it's more of an insult than no tip at all.

As you know, I didn't vote for either Bush or Gore, but I recall thinking that, if Bush won, at least I'd get a nice tax cut out of it. My income tax bill last year was just under $40K. What with all the hype, I expected something more than $300, maybe something on the order of 10%. Thus my nickel tip reaction.

Like I said, I know mine is an over-reaction, so I'll quit whining about it now.
