Barr Laboratories is planning to begin selling a 20-milligram capsule of fluoxetine, the chemical name for the popular antidepressant, Friday. U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker entered her final ruling in a Prozac patent infringement case on July 27, determining that Eli Lilly's 2003 patent on the drug was invalid. Barker also lifted an injunction that prevented Barr from marketing the drug. [...] Lilly's current patent of Prozac expires at midnight Thursday. The Food and Drug Administration has given Barr tentative approval to sell the drug, spokeswoman Carol Cox said; final approval could come Thursday.
