the market indicators are supposed to do that - for better or for worse

They don't, they didn't during the parabolic rise and they aren't now. INTC and MSFT are two companies that distort the major indexes. Do you know what percentage they comprise of a simple Nasdaq 100 tracking stock like QQQ? 14.33%

A mid-cap/small cap money manager from Bank of America was on CNBC a few weeks ago and he stated that the average stock on the NYSE was up 18% over the last year. Everyone on the show looked at him like he was crazy. A quick cruise of the mutual fund stats for the last year on June 30 would have you thinking he was as well until you got to those funds who traditionally invest in value stocks, like those from Vanguard and Mutual Series. Tech and the other growth stocks with their miserable recent results are distorting the picture, the same way they had everyone thinking they were freakin genius' on the way up, they have everyone looking for worldwide collapse on the way down.

I was suspicious of the scan that Yahoo gave me, that's why I pulled up charts and profiles from hundreds of companies on the list to check the accuracy. I'm sure if you change the sort on those scans you will see why you have a problem with the way the numbers worked out.
