Aware, Inc. Reports Second Quarter 2001 Financial Results


BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2001--Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWRE) reported financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2001. Second quarter 2001 revenue decreased 43 percent to $4.0 million, compared to $7.0 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2000. Net income this quarter was $40,000, or $0.00 per diluted share. Net income in the second quarter of 2000 was $2.4 million, or $0.10 per diluted share.

Michael Tzannes, chief executive officer, said: "The challenging environment in the telecommunications market continues to negatively affect our business. We are optimistic about the long-term prospects for our business because of the grassroots demand for ADSL and because our position, especially in the more robust international markets, remains strong."

Tzannes added: "We remain committed to our strategy despite the current downturn. We continue to invest in DSL and to add new technologies to our arsenal so that we can leverage upturns in the market."
