Excuse me. The title of the book derives from a quote from Swift: "When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him".

Ignatius is not one of the confederacy, he is, in his view at least, the true genius.

He also used the word "decency" rather frequently, and that is whence the comparison sprang.

I see that you haven't read the book either. Perhaps you should. You could use a good giggle.
