You raise some good points. Now if we just had some good answers.

Is it desirable for people to get married in their teens? The chances of a such a marriage ending in divore are even higher than normal. And such a course will almost certainly result in early termination of education. Combined witht the kids that are likely to result from the union, this spells poverty.

Is it desirable for people in their teens to have premarital sex? The risks for the woman are the same as above- -children at an early age, terminated education, and poverty. Men often get off considerably lighter since they commonly can just walk away from it.

Another problem: Sex adds a nuclear explosive to what is already a highly volatile period: Puberty and the teenage years.

In addition to these risks, there are the risks of STDs. Back when I was sowing wild oats, there were cures for all the diseases you could get. No longer. Now not only do they last a lifetime, but it may very well be a short lifetime. The bugs have gotten smarter.

Currently, illegitimate births are 30% of total births. Before the sexual revolution in the '60s, that figure was a few per cent.

That sexual revolution was against what was seen as the Puritanical repression of sex in the '50s and preceding decades. This is where it has brought us.

So how do we get the genie back in the bottle? Or do we even try? Better, cheaper birth control and cures for these STDs could eliminate many of the problems- -if almost everybody used them when needed.
