Are you so sure that most systems ship with maximum CPUs? In my experience, this is not true. Because of the rapid drop in CPU prices, there is a great incentive to add only when needed. --- In many environments the operational cost of upgrading the server (taking it off-line, coordination, personnel costs, down time, testing, etc.) greatly outweigh the cost of the CPUs themselves. Every server I see going into a datacenter environment is fully populated. - Eric
