"Repeated exposure to the peptides switches off the Th1 pathway, which generates T cells that produce tumor necrosis factor and other cytokines implicated in the inflammatory response in MS patients. Treated mice express a different T cell population, known as Th0, which produce the protective cytokine IL-10."

I had no idea this was happening!

Those mice had better change their tune right now and stop
repeatedly exposing their peptides at Ms. Patients or I'll
come over there and generate an entirely different kind of
inflammatory response Mr. not-so-subtle.

Mark,

Isn't there a Toronto or Calgary Sun version of this??

Just kidding. Thank god I've been paying attention to your
postings and actually managed to understand some of it. I'm
quite serious when I tell you its easier to read boiler
plates and legal notwithstanding clauses. Keep them
coming please.

I do hear the possible implications for MS - an awful
disease - and found the "arrogance of the human species"
comment interesting. It's a double edged sword on which I
prefer us to be on the arrogant side. While it may well
be difficult for those of this century to believe there
is something humans can't solve - it is also that arrogance
that may let us grow out of the displacement of
responsiblity from within ourselves to a removed god concept
- a healthy thing for the planet long term.
