Well, the only administration in the last thirty or so years that has decreased the size of Federal Government was the Clinton Administration, but since he was a democrat I guess that doesn't count. I did enjoy your post however. I just wondered since we have more generals and admirals than ever do you think the Bush administration's increase in defense spending will result in less General and Admirals as in less military government? BTW totalitarianism can disguise itself as a democracy, dictatorship, conservative or liberal rule, or anything else. However, when it gets manifested, totalitarianism and it's crony dictatorship usually has little tolerance for a wide range of thought thus it's focus usually becomes extremely conservative and freedom limiting, sort of like the new administration is thinking
