The reason companies remain on the NASDAQ is that the inflated trading volume allows insiders to sell shares more quickly. Insiders are only allowed to sell a certain percentage of the average daily volume. A few companies, MCIC notably, stay on the NASDAQ because they are doing business with the exchange. As a last explanation, let me add my own personal hunch (completely unverified), that INTC and MSFT are receiving some sort of kickback for staying on the NASDAQ. If they were to move to the NYSE, NASDAQ would lose its cache as home to high-tech.
