You seem to forget that public owned utilities are not regulated either. What makes you think that re-regulation is the answer? If the government is in control there is no hope of redress and competitive market response. At least with private enterprises you can attempt to get competition. What would have happen if Davis did not open the public purse and agree to pay any price for a scarce commodity? Here we have the unregulated government (the governor was operating under emergency powers) being the buyer with the consumer on the hook for the ultimate bill. If anyone asked me if I was willing to pay over twice the prior years average rate, I would have said Hell NO!!. Now I have to pay for Davis's idiotic shit for brains emergency power actions for the next 10 to 20 years. It seems to me that you and I have been royally screwed by the unregulated public sector establishment. Yeh, let's give it all to them and solve the problem?? People buy their gasoline gallon by gallon selecting from a number of gas stations that have prices clearly posted for all to see. No one that I know runs around and buys gas without knowing what the price is per gallon. Why can't we buy other energy commodities like electricity and natural gas likewise?
