| Yes, indeed. The more the animal is to shows intelligence and personality, the more repugnant it is to eat it. Of course, it is not cannibalism, but it does seem to trash the qualities that we appreciate in ourselves. Besides, a lot of us grew up with dogs, and know how much personality they have. With horses, the objection is somewhat different. They are noble, beautiful animals, and it is repugnant to think of churning them into meat when there are other options available. Of course, we use them for glue, but generally when they are decrepit, and would have to be put down anyway....... |
