Playing house is "play." "Going steady" is usually viewed as serious even by children. According to steven's views there is nothing to be done in such cases. Going steady may be viewed in the context in which you presented it by adults(Seriously interested in pursuing marriage). It may also be viewed as the need to belong in a relationship for the here and now, and everywhere along that continuum. I do not see a clear standard in this that all of us can hold up as a reference to what is illicit and what is not. The out come is, as we have seen over the past to days, the word illicit becomes a meaningless and archaic vetigial artifact. The idea of marriage itself begins to seem as kholt put it, just a meaningless peice of paper. I dissent, and I don't care if the whole human race has difficulty accepting that.
