Dr. Diligence,

I'm sure the exchanges would frown on such activity. There actually are some proposed rules I've seen prohibiting the public from acting as "market maker", i.e., having standing orders on both bid and ask at the same time. Your broker might not accept an order to sell if you have a standing order to buy. Obviously the exchanges have a logical case against the activity if your one contract limit order forces them to match it with more contracts to honor their minimum quote sizes.
