As a dismal scientist <g> I tend to believe in revealed preference preferentially too! My only quibble with the article is that the guys getting the rebate probably have a higher household saving rate than the economy wide mean which includes welfare recipients, the retired etc.... but probably that won't make much difference to the final result.
