Heres an example of DSL growth outside the US in a significant and developing situation, China. With the integrated model of wired DSL and fixed point wireless broadband, I bet the broadband build out of three provinces would lead to the hook up a lot more customers.

"Redback Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: RBAK chart, msgs), a leading provider of solutions for next-generation metro broadband and optical networks, announced three new customers, adding to its base of over 15 carrier customers in China. Provincial telephone service providers Hebei Telecom, Jilin Telecom and Liaoning Telecom are all subsidiaries of China Telecom and have chosen the Redback(R) SMS(TM) platform, the company's flagship family of subscriber management systems, to roll out broadband DSL service across the three provinces.

Benjamin Tay, area director for Redback Networks comments, "Redback has already established a strong presence in China over the last two years, with customers in over 15 provinces to date. Hebei, Jilin and Liaoning represent the up and coming tier of provinces that are determined to be a part of the Internet Revolution that we are currently seeing. Their efforts, combined with the central strategic direction of China Telecom, will begin to yield results before the end of this year as tens of thousands of companies and families become broadband-enabled in those provinces."
