Intel already makes an NC, just cut their motherboards in half (i.e. the side with the ISA and PCI slots). They have boards that come with Floppy controller, Hard disk controller, 2 serial, 1 parallel, a video adapter and 16 bit sound blaster on the board. If they add a USB or firewire port, well now that's a pretty nice NC.

Basically it sounds like a Commodore 64 to me, plugged it in to the TV and worked fine. I only opened the box once to add a reset button.

Intels boards go for as little as $300, add a hard disk (or not) and some memory. With there fabs and economies of scale who could compete?
