Drilling in ANWR is probably a decoy to get the rest of the plan through

This could well be true. However, the liberals who are fighting this simply don't have a clue what it is about, and really ought to learn a little about it before they proclaim it to be off-limits.

This place [where the drilling is proposed] is not the pristeen, beautiful land you see on CNN. It is a muddy, frozen, uninhabited region that has no better function in life than to support a drilling operation. The Republicans have done a horrible job at getting this message out.

This area has been described as follows [paraphrased]:

"If you had to pick one place on Earth to be hit by a meteor, this would be it".

For the liberals it is just one more misguided cause, as if they need one more.
