"like courage: ....As Aristotle said, one must not expect the same degree of rigor from ethics that one gets in geometry......."

I would agree if we were sitting almost any where but on this thread. On this tread where people can't deal with common sense terms like decent, illicit, and I suspect courage; I don't trust the consensus agreement on vague definitions.

For example: Yesterday karen systematically went threw a 5 step critique of marriage as a standard. She then held up your proposal of "going steady" as the only practical alternative given all that critique. However, if you apply the same critique to going steady you end up with a mess.

Going steady as a standard for legitimizing sexual relationships is a cop out for responsibility. No body should be having sex without the clear understanding that this process is primed to begin a new life. That this is a good and wonderful thing, and any such outcome is a good and worthy product of the encounter that both the participants are fully ready to take responsibility for.

The bottom line to most of the challenges to traditional values and principle here becomes "cause we aint havin' e'nuf fun yet and f*&K the logic or principle that challenges that." "girls just wanna have fu'un" Cindy Lauper.
