Re: Profits 101 - LOL! Thanks for that one. Yesterday, in the debate on the floor in the U.S. House, a couple of the Democrats in opposition to the Bush energy bill noted that some of the major oil companies are sitting on major piles of cash. Shell, for instance, has $11 Billion in the bank. Yupper, they're savoring these profits, and they could be even happier with all the bells and whistles and depreciation/depletion allowances that the legislation proposes to offer. Thank gawd Sen. Jeffords decided that he has more in common with the electorate of Vermont than the "blue-eyed sheiks" of Houston. This bill is going to go through a meat grinder, and hopefully the sausage that comes out doesn't have the same nasty aroma as this temporary House version.
