Windsock, >This shows that the top of the AMD line is competing with the middle of Intel's processors. And it has to be offered at a discount.
No wonder Blow Hard Dan is so upset. AMD's prices are in the toilet and there is nothing but losses ahead, no new products in site.
He does seem to be getting a desperate tone in his posts lately. AMD is going back up, though. However, IMO it's due to DCB and other factors like ML yesterday and Intel today.
Gottfried on the AMAT thread tried to explain Intel's valuation in part by citing their brand value, that list where Intel is sixth in the world in brand value. However, Coca Cola is #1, yet I don't see Coke any more expensive than Pepsi at the store. IBM is in the top 5, but they don't get much more than Sun or HP (if any more) at the top of their server lines. Microsoft probably gets the most out of their brand name, along with Intel. AMD has to price as if they were a Yugo. Change that, too harsh, make it Geo or something. It's almost as though AMD is an intruder or something, and the world would really rather buy nothing but Intel. Glad I'm not on that side of the fence, stockholder-wise.
