Jim, "Service is just an excuse...all those companies have good service."
Funny to notice, but it looks like a corrupted circle. I believe the "service reviews" are also have been bought with the same advertisement dollars.
I usually do not use much of service from anyone, but few years ago I had some Dell experience<g> One of department's desktops, Dell-something, under service, etc, suddenly stopped to boot, with some characteristic beeps indicating a failure of video. I called Dell, no response, for several days. After five of six calls they told me to drop the PC for evaluation, thanks they are around Austin. After about 2 weeks they called me back suggesting to upgrade the "bad" board for about $600 or something like that (it was transition times to Pentiums from 486-era). I refused knowing that for that amount of money I could build a full new computer.
I took the PC back, opened the case, removed the mainboard (proprietary, with built-in video), and guess what? A huge, quarter-size drop of solder was on the bottom side of the board. The drop was easy to remove, it fell off after little scratching, and the PC was back on line, no problem. Now tell me about excellent service at Dell Computer Corporation <ggg>. And quality too <g>.
