a couple of the Democrats in opposition to the Bush energy bill noted that some of the major oil companies are sitting on major piles of cash. Shell, for instance, has $11 Billion in the bank.

How did the majors get drawn into the California energy crisis? There is nothing wrong with profits. I give more $ to the state and federal governments than I do to the majors when I buy a gallon of gasoline....and they're just gate keepers.

If you are referring to a misguided federal energy policy....I still don't see the issue of the majors. I don't think it is the majors who have influenced Cheney and Bush. I agree the duo's energy policy is a bit of a joke. The last thing we should be doing is encouraging increased fossil fuel use. It makes no sense at all as world oil production will be peaking in the next decade or so. This pair is seriously lacking in the integrity (statesman) aspect of leadership or they are inept and clueless.

I am starting to think they are inept and non-statesmen.

Thank gawd Sen. Jeffords decided that he has more in common with the electorate of Vermont than....

I couldn't agree more. It is good to know we still have some independent thinkers in government. Statesmen are rare.
