Since you are so desperate to get more oil, don't you think it behooves you to find out exactly how much is to be gained by spoiling another area of this continent?
I'm not desperate to get more oil. Frankly, I don't care. But I think reducing our country's dependence on foreign oil is a legitimate reason to drill in ANWR. This is about National Security.
I was clear about my understanding of the amount of oil in ANWR -- somewhere in the billions of barrels and trillions of feet of gas, but also clearly stated "I don't know" (honesty -- something you can't quite get ready for, can you?). Certainly, anyone who suggests it is six months' of supply is flat out lying, as the error is far too great to be anything but intentional.
The fact is, if there are not substantial reserves in ANWR, the drilling will never proceed past the test drilling stage, as it won't be financially feasible to pursue it. So what exactly is your gripe. If the amount of oil matters to you, then it takes care of itself. If there isn't sufficient oil to make it worth drilling for, the drilling never happens. If there is, great, it is okay with you because there are sufficient quantities.
Perhaps you'd like to take a poll; after all, this is the way liberals generally make decisions... |
