Great post Steven. I totally agree with you.

I took a 400 level sex education class which was very interesting indeed. I presented a paper on sexuality and the elderly. I believe I presented a great deal of new information to my classmates. There were also some terrific papers presented on sexuality and the brain. Someone who thinks they don't have anything to learn in a sexual education class is probably someone who has no idea how complicated sexual behavior can be (or the physical mechanics of sexual response- it is complicated and it changes over time). If you think it is just putting a peg in a hole after some ceremony tells you sex is "licit" than perhaps further (any?) education is unnecessary. But for the rest of us, education is not only helpful, but it's fascinating too. I fail to see why ignorance in sexual matters would be a plus. It is not considered a plus to be ignorant in other ares. I fail to see why sexuality should be the one area where ignorance should be praised, or cultivated. Everyone has a right to choose ignorance for themselves, but I don't think it's very "decent" to want to impose ignorance on others. Do you?
