A majority want a tax cut if you just ask them that. A minority want a tax cut if you ask them "do you want a tax cut or strong spending on "essential government services". A majority probably would want a tax cut if you ask them
"tax cut or lots of corporate welfare, and wasteful or inefficient spending. If you just ask them separate questions in the same survey you would probably get the same people saying they want a big tax cut plus lots and lots of government spending going there way. That's a big reason for all of the deficits we have had, but if you also ask about that most people would say they want to cut the deficit. I think we may be in a minority in the sense that we actually understand something about how government spends money, what it spends it for, and some of the consequences of this spending. Most people probably don't give it much thought which would explain their
inconsistent answers.
