After doing Big Bend and other Texas getaways that have been recommended, perhaps moseying down to one of the dude ranches around Bandera would elevate you to JF's level of ranching knowledge. <g> I've visited Big Bend twice (in the pleasant weather of October both times) and agree with someone here who said it's "another world" sort of place geographically as well as with the interesting people who have chosen to live in such a remote area. Meanwhile, two more ranching terms ... acreage and stock tank (a water pond that is carved out of a sloping area to collect drinking water for the livestock}. BTW, Good luck with the Jonah and whale production.
