Eli Neusner>> Merrill Lynch issued a big picture market analysis this morning. It's an important document because it comes from the largest brokerage firm, and will influence the trading of hundreds of thousands of individual and institutional clients.

Merrill says there's a secular shift happening. "Everything the market was in the past decade is not likely to be in years to come...gains will be more modest and harder to achieve...investors will need more patience."

Merrill says don't look to tech for market leadership: "We think best candidates...will be in sectors such as health care, financial, energy and infrastructure." I feel like I've gone back in time - those were the trendiest sectors in the late '80s.
