They were the first to suspect that the mystery bite was amplifying my often dreadful personality. Which maybe it was. I dunno. I feel fine now. No more obsessive negative thoughts. No more aches and pains and imaginary fevers. Now I'm just my normal obnoxious self. I dunno how the spider feels. I hope it feels worse than me
Crap. I wish we-we-we had Black Widow spiders up here, so that I had something to blame my obsessive negative thoughts on... (o:
No, actually, I'm GLAD we don't have poisonous anythings here as I would be getting bitten all of the time. If something can sting, bite or scratch, I usually find out PDQ. I would probably NEVER get used to watching out for something that could actually be somewhat lethal.
Reminds me of something that happened when I was visiting a friend one time. It was in an area where there are a couple of somewhat venomous native spiders. I was working on a piece of machinery, and a couple of nuts and bolts slid through the wooden slats of the porch and fell onto the ground beneath. Not thinking much about the "possibilities", I got down on the ground on my back and stuck my arm in under the porch and felt around, retrieving the nuts and bolts..until there was just one more left to find. I couldn't find the little sucker, so I finally turned my head and kind of semi-crawled under the edge of the porch to find the blighter.
Hmm...well... there sure were A LOT of SPIDERS under there... in various sizes and shapes of spider nests... I was a little..uhm... DAUNTED by the assortment...and to realize that I had been fishing around in the midst of them for a couple of minutes. I saw the nut and grabbed it quickly and got up, brushing at my hair and my clothes and imagining all kinds of nasty outcomes from possible bites. My friend happened along just then and gave me a bit of a blast of shit after finding out that I'd had my arm and about half of my upper torso under the deck where all the spiders hang out...
Damned Canucks! Can't take us ANYWHERE!
(BTW, thanks for the story!)
