To all, Like many on this thread, I've been following Novartis for a while but found the thread later. I got into Novartis back in January. This stock was recommended to me by a value-oriented investment manager who buys stocks to hold for at least a year. Although Novartis is on a tear right now, I would bet that it still has a ways to go over time. I've also heard that sometimes buying near a stock's 52-week high is good because you are buying at a time when the company is strong (unless of course, it's being bid up unrealistically high by speculation). All depends on what happens in the NEXT 52 weeks. I would be happy if it just keeps doing what it's been doing the last couple of weeks. I haven't done a lot of research on the company myself beyond what's already been covered here, but it seems to me that the technologies they are working on in the agricultural area could be huge. And that's just one leg of their triangle. I would expect them to get on the NYSE sometime soon, I've heard that that is their intention.
