Many children continue to respect the advice and guidence of their parents on substantive issues, life long. There's a difference between advice and living their lives for them. Or trying to live your life over through them. Those distinctions elude many parents and there are lots of 30 and 40 year olds who are still trying to be independent of their parents--and most of them are in therapy. All the while their parents are bragging about how their kids never gave them a bit of trouble growing up. Karen
