> Gold Eagle Sales on torrid pace:

Tepid, not torrid ... From 1992-2000 (9 years) about 4.9moz ounces of gold have been sold in the American Eagle program, an average of 543koz per year. Peak year was 1999 at just over 2moz and the low of 164.5koz in 2000. At the 2001 rate, 110.5koz in 7 months one could project about 190koz for 2001. This is well below the average and would be the third worst year in the 10 year history of the program (second worst year was 1998 at 175.6koz)
