Gartner tends to highlight whatever companies are currently paying them the biggest fees.

When I was at TopTier (now SAP Portals) we were able to easily solve the problem of being omitted from analyst reports at Gartner, Delphi, etc. We hired them for some nice expensive "competitive consulting" contracts.

Some useful data may be extracted, but believing these guys are objective in any way may be harmful to your wallet.
